Elle Fanning , one of the stars of the Bob Dylan biographical drama film “A Complete Unknown,” says a “bad turkey sandwich” is to blame for making her sick the first time she saw the music icon live. Fanning and Timothée Chalamet , who plays Dylan in the James Mangold-directed film, told Uproxx that they went to see the singer-songwriter together at one of his shows at New York’s Kings Theatre last year. But Fanning — who portrays Sylvie Russo, a renamed version of Dylan’s ex-girlfriend Suze Rotolo, in the film — didn’t feel tops and had to vomit. “Oh my god, he was halfway through. I’d never seen him live, and we were there, and then something overcame me. And then I envisioned the turkey sandwich I’d had that day, and ran out,” Fanning said. Chalamet told the outlet that he thought his co-star’s experience was “either a great omen for the movie or the exact opposite.” Fanning, in a recent episode of “Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend,” revealed that she couldn’t make it to the bathroom and puked “all over” the carpet in the venue’s lobby. She told O’Brien that, after leaving the bathroom, she spotted a “sad little cone” notifying concertgoers to avoid the area on the lobby floor. Fanning, who also shared the story on “The Tonight Show,” told Jimmy Fallon that it was a “memorable” experience nonetheless and declared that she still has to go to a “full” Dylan concert. Fanning — in remarks at the The Wrap’s 2024 WrapWomen Power Women Summit earlier this month — revealed that she got a “full-on concert” from Chalamet (as Dylan) during her first day on set of the film, according to People . “Timothée’s so extraordinary in the movie,” said Fanning, who noted that she was an audience member in a scene where the actor performed Dylan’s “A Hard Rain’s a-Gonna Fall.” She continued, “I remember tearing up ... he’s a friend of mine [and we’ve] worked together before .” “And so seeing him accomplish this and this character in such a beautiful way [was moving].” “A Complete Unknown” is in theaters this week.
